March 19, 2024

March 19, the astronomical winter ends and spring begins.

It's also known as the vernal equinox – when day and night are the about same length almost everywhere on Earth. When the vernal equinox takes place on Tuesday evening in the U.S., it will already be March 20 for most of the world. A March 21 equinox won't occur on the continental U.S. during the entire 21st century, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac. (Article)
