New Book Study

Join us on each of the four Wednesdays in June for a light supper and short discussion of Rowan WilliamsÂ book, Being Christian: Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, Prayer. Â There are only four chapters, weÂll discuss one chapter per week. Books will be available at Coffee Hours on May 21 and 28 and in the office. Cost is only $8 (includes the 20% discount from Port Book and News).

St. Swithin's Feast of theÂ AscensionÂ Celebration

Come join us at the beach to lift our spirits as we celebrate the ascent of Jesus into heaven 40 days after his resurrection. WeÂll have Kite Flying, Potluck Supper, and Evening Prayer.

Bring a kite to fly, a dish to share, and warm clothes.

This week we celebrate Thurgood Marshall, Public Servant, 1993. Â Two interesting facts about Thurgood Marshall:

The justiceÂs first name was was actually Thoroughgood, but in second grade, he got tired of writing his full name and shortened it to Thurgood.Â
ThurgoodÂs first pick for law school was the University of Maryland, but he did not apply because of its segregation policy. MarshallÂs Âfirst big civil rights victory as an attorney,Â Murray v. Pearson,Â was against this very school,Â according to legacy.com. This win resulted in equal education for generations to come.Â

In Forks at St. Swithin's - Â Each Sunday at 2:30 pm - We meet at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church for Holy Eucharist or Prayer.
Mid-week Worship Service each Wednesday in person at 11 am.
