Viriditas: A Celebration of Hildegard von Bingen

Saturday, September 17 at 7:00 PM
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church   301 E. Lopez Ave.   Port Angeles, WA
Come celebrate the beginning of Autumn with original music and poetry in the style of Hildegard von Bingen, the mystic, musician, and visionary abbess of the 11th Century. Performance is set for Saturday, September 17, Hildegard's Saint's Day, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Angeles.
Music composed by Noah Michael Smith and poetry in the spirit of Hildegard by Don Corson will celebrate Hildegard's concept of "Viriditas", her word for the "greening power" embodied in all things. Music will include original choral music for women, organ, and piano. A highlight will be music inspired by electronically "listening" to the sounds vines make as they photosynthesize the sun's energy, something Hildegard would have loved to do if she could!
This program is a part of the Season of Creation at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, a time to focus on this beautiful time of year of harvest and bounty. All are welcome. Attendance is by donation.

Centering Prayer

We meet in the sanctuary at 4:00 on Tuesdays.
Join us in-person or in your own space resting in the presence of God.

"God sometimes seems to speak, heart to heart, in this mysterious way, to the untaught and unpracticed. None of us should imagine that the ways of contemplative prayer are closed to us, because God is always infinitely larger than our expectations."  (Margaret Silf)

Wednesday Worship

11:00 am Holy Eucharist

This week we commemorate Catherine of Genoa, Mystic and Nurse, 1510.
Saint Catherine of Genoa wanted to be a nun, but was rejected due to her youth. Instead she married, converted her husband to a life of virtue, and together they cared for the poor. Exhausted by her life of self sacrifce, Catherine died September 15, 1510, and was canonized in 1737.
