The finance committee and vestry will meet this week and finalize the letter of agreement (LOA) between the Rev. Karen Schomberg and St Andrew's. Karen+ will join us as a 3/4 time employee, which will be economical for us and also enable her to continue building her pension. She will also relocate to our area and will live here full time. That is our largest issue (LOA) for the moment but much more is to come.
In addition to hiring our interim, we must, with her help, set the goals of her ministry with us; obviously centered on our transition but also continuing as a working church. October brings Creation Season, pledge season and Consecration Sunday.
So far our continuity in attendance (virtual) and engagement with small groups and prayer groups has been encouraging, however August pledge income was disappointing and inches us toward a deficit which we have so far managed to avoid.
We will return to normal some day. Hard to believe that as we are breathing air flavored by 3 million acres of wild fires, but if Londoners could endure their blitz we can endure this one. I won't list the challenges as that might lead to depression but I offer that all of us:
Keep calm and pray on.
